OUR VALUES: WHAT MATTERS TO US?

The Bible describes in Acts 2:40-47 what the first followers of Jesus valued. At RockCreek, we want to follow their example, and so we value:

 

  • Introducing More to Jesus        “Those who accepted his message were baptized …”

    People matter greatly to God, and so they matter greatly to us too. We share the good news of Jesus with as many people as we can.

  • Transformed Lives                     "They devoted themselves..."

    God wants us to become fully devoted followers of Jesus, so we value real character formation and growing maturity in Christ, not just church attendance.   (Eph. 4:12-13)

  • The Word of God                                    " … to the apostles’ teaching …”

    We study carefully through every page of God’s Word, the Bible, and place a supreme value on knowing what it means and applying its timeless truths to our daily lives.

  • Worship                                        "… to the breaking of bread…”

    Our gatherings are focused on worship to God, not just entertainment for us.

  • Prayer                                           "… and to prayer”

    God wants to connect with us, and so we pray deeply and passionately.

  • Caring Community:         "All the believers were together …”

    We are a caring community. We extend grace to all who sincerely want to grow.  We “make every effort to keep the unity” (Ephesians 4:3). We “speak the truth in love” to one another (Ephesians 4:15).

  • Sincerity                                       “with … sincere hearts.”

    We value being real with God, ourselves, and each other. No pretending.

  • Joyful Living                                "with glad … hearts.”

    With all that God has done for us, we have every reason to celebrate!
